About the Programme
The PhD in Structural Engineering is a four-year doctoral programme offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, Central University of Kashmir. The programme is designed to produce high-calibre researchers and academicians capable of making original contributions to the field of structural engineering and allied disciplines.
Doctoral candidates work under the supervision of experienced faculty members on research themes that include advanced structural analysis, seismic engineering, structural health monitoring, sustainable construction materials, computational mechanics, and infrastructure resilience. The programme combines rigorous coursework in the initial semesters with intensive research leading to a doctoral thesis.
The Department is equipped with modern laboratories and computational facilities to support cutting-edge research. PhD graduates are well-prepared for positions in academia, national research institutions, government bodies, and the advanced engineering industry. The programme strongly encourages interdisciplinary research and collaboration with national and international institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold an M.E./M.Tech degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) from a recognized university. Candidates with a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF qualification will be given preference. Selection is based on a written test and/or interview as per the admission policy of Central University of Kashmir. Candidates may also be required to submit a research proposal at the time of interview.
