Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering. As Academic Coordinator, my responsibility is to make sure that what we teach is rigorous, current and directly useful to the engineers our region needs. Our M.Tech and PhD programmes in Structural Engineering are built around a simple idea: students should understand the mechanics behind a design, be able to compute it, and be able to test it.

Courses such as Structural Dynamics, the Finite Element Method and Machine Learning in Structural Engineering are taught through hands-on implementation, not only through theory, and are closely linked to the Department's research on seismic resilience, vibration control and structural reliability. Students also learn from live campus construction projects designed and supervised by our own faculty.

I encourage every student to engage early with research, to use the laboratories and field sites available to them, and to approach the faculty freely. We look forward to helping you build a strong foundation for a career in structural engineering.
