Dr. Asif Khan is a distinguished media academic, researcher, filmmaker, and communication specialist with nearly two decades of experience in higher education, journalism, media management, and research. He currently serves as Senior Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Communication & Journalism, School of Media Studies, at the Central University of Kashmir. Holding a Ph.D., M.Phil., and Master's degree in Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Kashmir, he specializes in media convergence, digital journalism, communication research, film studies, media ethics, and new media technologies.

His academic career spans teaching, research supervision, curriculum development, academic leadership, and institutional administration. He has served as Head/Coordinator of the Department of Convergent Journalism and has led numerous academic initiatives, workshops, seminars, internships, and quality assurance activities. Dr. Khan has published extensively in peer-reviewed and indexed journals, contributed book chapters, presented research at national and international conferences, and developed the “Digital Clout–Convergence Effect Model” to explain the impact of digital technologies on media convergence.

Beyond academia, he has significant professional experience in journalism, editorial work, broadcasting, and media production. He has supervised award-winning documentaries, directed institutional films, coordinated the establishment of Radio CUKashmir 90.8 FM, and contributed extensively to media education and community engagement. His achievements include UGC-NET qualification, international leadership training in the United Kingdom, editorial roles with leading academic journals, and recognition for excellence in research, filmmaking, and academic service. He serves as Associate Editor for Cogent Social Sciences (Taylor & Francis, UK). His work integrates media scholarship, innovation, and professional practice.

Dr. Khan's work reflects a commitment to advancing media scholarship, fostering innovation in journalism education, and bridging academic research with contemporary communication practices.

At CUK, he has held many positions like Deputy Director DSW, Coordinator DIC, Social Media Champion, Coordinator - Social Media Cell, Academic Coordinator, Nodal officer for CRS, Station Manager Radio CUKashmir 90.8 FM etc.
