5. The DCJ organised a “Field Trip to Gulmarg for Snow Photography” for the students of Convergent Journalism on 20th February, 2021.
6. The department organised a “2 Day Workshop on “Visual Storytelling” on 23rd February, 2021 in online mode with Dr. Tabeenah Anjum as Resource Person. Dr. Tabeenah Anjum currently works for The Outlook Magazine, Jaipur.
10. The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ) launched its monthly newspaper by the name DCJ Times on June 02, 2021 at Green Campus, Tulmulla.
11. The department organized a 2-day workshop on “Understanding Photography (The Business of Photography & Compositions)” from June 28 to June 29, 2021 in online mode with Mr. Vijay Jodha as resource person.
12. The Department of Convergent Journalism in association with Vigyan Prasar organized a 2 Day National Urdu Science Congress from September 22 to 23, 2021 at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
13. The Department of Convergent Journalism in association with Vigyan Prasar & University of Kashmir organized Vigyan Sarvatra Pujate, Festival of SCoPE on Science Communication, Popularization and its Extension from February 22 to February 28 in the year 2022 at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir, and Srinagar.
14. The DCJ in association with Vigyan Prasar & University of Kashmir organized workshop on Science Filmmaking under SCoPE Project from March 07, 2022 to March 11, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus Tulmulla.
16. The DCJ Facilitated “Pariksha pe Charcha 2022”, Pariksha pe Baat …PM Ke Sath on 1st April, 2022 where Faculty, Scholars and students of Tulmulla Campus attended at Central University of Kashmir, Maim Campus, Tulmulla.
17. The Department of Convergent Journalism recorded a massive victory with 7 wickets against Department of Tourism Studies in T-10 Inter Department COSCO Tournament held at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tulmulla on 13 April, 2022.
19. The Department of Convergent Journalism organised DCJ Photo Expedition - 3 Day Field Trip to Gurez from June 03 to 05, 2022.
20. The Department organized a "One-day Intensive Workshop for the Revision of Syllabus of MACJ under NEP-2020" on June 27, 2022. Professors and senior faculty from different universities of Kashmir, like the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, and IUST Awantipora, were invited to deliberate on the theme and also give their valuable suggestions in tune with the guidelines of NEP-2020 to be incorporated in the syllabus of session 2022-2023. Prof Aliya Ahmad, Prof Zahra Malik from the University of Kashmir and Dr. Moinisa Qadri, and Dr. Mujeed Liayakat from IUST participated in the workshop.
21. The Department of Convergent Journalism, School of Media Studies conducted Board of Studies & School Board Meeting on July 7, 2022 & July 14, 2022 respectively regarding syllabus changes as per NEP-2020 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tullmulla.
22. The Department of Convergent Journalism, School of Media Studies, CUK organised 2 Day Workshop on RED Digital Cinema Camera -Handling & Operations (A unique demonstration and hands-on training with RED EPIC-W Camera) on July 18 & 19, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tullmulla.
23. The Department of Convergent Journalism hold Film Screening of the movie “Gandhi” under AKAM (Celebrating 75 Years of Independence) on August 8, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tullmulla.
24. The Department of Convergent Journalism conducted Photo Exhibition and Collage Making (Theme Cultures & Traditions) under AKAM (Celebrating 75 Years of Independence) on August 11, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tullmulla.
27. Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies (SoMS), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a “One–Day Induction Programme” on 05 December, 2022 for the newly admitted students in the Department at Tulmulla campus.
28. 5-Day workshop on “Science Filmmaking” organised by the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) from 12-16 December, 2022 under the project 'Science Communication, Popularization and Extension (SCoPE) in Urdu & Kashmiri began at Tulmulla campus.
29. Department of Convergent Journalism, School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir organised “Snow Photography Trip to Gulmarg” for MACJ Semester I Students on 25 December 2022.

36. The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir won the first prize at the Two-Day Short Film Fest organized by The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Islamic University of Science and Technology in collaboration with Film South Asia and Hri Institute for South Asian Research and Exchange on 16th June, 2023
37. 3 Day training workshop in Camera and Editing organized by the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on 17th July, 2023 at Main Campus, Tulmulla.
38. The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir, organized an activity related to NEP-2020 on 25th June 2023 at IT Conference Hall, Main Campus, Tulmulla.
39. The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir is organized a documentary screening on NEP-2020. The event is scheduled to take place within the framework of the “Akhil Bharitya Shiksha Samagam” held on 26thand 2th July, 2023 at the Media Lab.
41. DCJ organized 8 Days Media Tour to Chandigarh &; Delhi for the students of MACJ Semester IV from 13-20, November, 2023. Around 22 students accompanied by Faculty members visited National & International media Organizations based in Chandigarh & Delhi.
44. DCJ organised One Day Workshop on “Nuances of Photojournalism” in collaboration with Nikon India Private Limited on 22nd May 2024 at Main Campus, Tulmulla.

50. DCJ organized online workshop on Data Journalism Tools on 24th & 26Th September, 2024 at Main Campus. The Resource person of the event was Prof. Umesh Arya from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Haryana.
55. DCJ organises week-long Workshop on “Research And Publication Etthics” in collaboration with Department of Education from 7th to 11th October, 2024
56. Department of Communication and Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir commenced a three-day hands-on workshop on Cinematography and Editing for the students at Tulmulla campus on 29th October 2024.
57. A two-day workshop on ‘Creative Writing’ organized by the Department of Communication and Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), commenced at varsity’s Tulmulla on 21st November, 2024.
58. Inauguration of Radio CUKashmir 90.8 FM at Department of Communication & Journalism Central University of Kashmir by Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd) - Hon’ble Chancellor CUK in presence of Prof A Ravinder Nath - Hon’ble Vice Chancellor CUK & Prof Shahid Rasool - worthy Dean Academic Affairs CUK on 29 March 2025.
59. The Department of Communication and Journalism (DCJ) in collaboration with Directorate of Students Welfare, Central University of Kashmir screened a film, “Mother of Democracy” on Wednesday 25th June, in DCJ’s media lab, at Tulmulla Campus, followed by a discussion amongst the audience. This programme was organised as part of observing Long-Live democracy, (Amrut Kaal), a Government of India’s initiative. The programme was attended by the faculty member and students of both Dept. of Communication and Journalism and Dept. of Information and Technology.
62. Department of Communication and Journalism (School of Media Studies) in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology (School of Engineering), Central University of Kashmir (CUK), started a One-Week Student Induction Programme (SIP) “Deeksharambh” in offline and online mode for newly admitted Postgraduate (PG) and Undergraduate (UG) students at the Tulmulla Campus on 11th August, 2025.
64. World Photography Day is celebrated globally on 19th August to honour the art, craft, science, and history of photography. This day serves as a platform to inspire photographers, both amateur and professional, to share their vision with the world. The Department of Communication and Journalism Central University of Kashmir is celebrating this occasion by organising a Photography Contest for students and research scholars. The event aims to encourage creative visual storytelling while sensitising participants to the importance of telling a story through the lens.

1. The Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ) organized a 3 Day Workshop on “Media Research Methodology” starting from 3rd November, 2020 in Online Mode. Resource persons like Prof. Ashok Ogra, Prof. Biswajit Das, Prof. Aquil Ahmad & Dr. Debalina Dutta interacted with students and scholars in different sessions.
2. The Department organised a 5 Day Induction programme for New Semester MACJ-I starting from 14th December,2020 in a blend mode. Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, HVC, Prof M.A. Zargar and faculty from within and outside department interacted with new batch students.
3. The Department organized a “Series of Online Lectures” for MACJ Students starting from 14th December,2020 in Online mode with Resource Persons from different universities of the country like Prof. KG Suresh from MCU, Prof. Ashok Ogra, APJ Society, Prof. Mukul Shrivastava from Lucknow University, Prof Ujjwal K Chowdhary from Adamas University, Prof Uma Shanker Panday from Kolkatta University & Mr. Ashok Kou, Filmmaker Mumbai shared their valuable experiences with the students.
4. The DCJ organised an Online Lecture on the “Working of PTI” on 2nd February, 2021 by Mr. Shakoor Ahmad Rather, Correspondent PTI.
7. The DCJ organised an Online Lecture on the “Newsroom Working” on 13th March, 2021 by Senior Producer, AajTak News Mr. Munish Devgan. Mr. Devgun shared some inside newsroom tips with the students
8. The Department organised an Extension Lectures on 19th March, 2021 at Conference Hall, Main Campus Tulmulla, The Resource Persons for the Events were Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdary from Adamas University, Kolkata And Mr. Aditya Chatterjee from ‘AdFactor’ the world of advertising.
9. The Department organised Special Lecture by Prof. Amitabh Mattoo (Padma Shri Awardee on 27th March, 2021at Conference Hall, Main Campus, Tulmulla.
32. Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized Guest Lecture on "Reimagining the Idea of Journalism" on 27 April, 2023.

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Prof. Dev Vrat Singh, former Dean & Head, School of Mass communication and Media Technologies, Central University of Jharkhand delivered an online lecture on the topic, “Digital Journalism: New Dynamics and Challenges” at the Department of Convergent Journalism, Central University of Kashmir today at main campus Tulmulla on 3rd May, 2023.
35. Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a lecture cum workshop on ‘Data Mining and Effective Searching Techniques’ 0n 13th June, 2023 at Tulmulla campus Prof. Umesh Arya, Professor and Dean, faculty of Media Studies, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology was the invited resource person.
40. The DCJ organised Special Lecture on the topic “Creativity and its Relevance in Succeeding in the 21st century” delivered by Dr. Arpan Yagnik, Associate Professor Of Advertising, Communication from Penn State Behrend, the Pennsylvania State USA on 7-08-2023 at Central University of Kashmir, Tulmulla.
49. DCJ hold special online lecture on Digital Leisure and Societal Structures on 19th September 2024 at CUK main campus. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Aditya Deshbandu lecturer of communication, digital media sociology at the the University of Exeter, UK.
51. RJ Mehak from Radio Mirchi Interacts with the students of DCJ on 25th Sept 2024 at Main Campus.
52. DCJ organizes a Special Lecture Cum Interaction with Faculty, Scholars and Students. The Guest for the event was Prof. Farhan Basir Khan, Renowned Academic & Media Professional from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi on 1st October, 2024.
53. DCJ hosts Online Lecture on “Understanding Quality Parameters of Research in Social Sciences” on 30th September 2024. The experst for the event was Dr. Rubul Kanozia, Associate Professor and Head at DMCMS (Dept of Mass Communication & Media Studies, Central University of Punjab.
54. DCJ organizes a Special Online Lecture on “It’s Hard to Draw Boundaries: What Health Communication Research Covers” by Prof. Usha Raman, Professor at Dept of Communication University of Hyderabad on 7th October 2024 at Tulmulla Campus.
60. Research Round Table Conference on East Asian Popular Culture and Youth in North East India organised by Department of Communication and Journalism. The Lecture was given by Dr. Jasmine Yimchunger, Assistant Professor, Depart5mt of Mass Communication, Sikkim University on 10th July, 2025.
61. Research Round Table Conference on Women in Hindi Cinema: On and Off Screen organised by Department of Communication and Journalism. The Lecture was given by Dr. Harmanpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Media and Cultural Studies, TISS, Mumbai on 31st July, 2025.
65. The Department of Communication and Journalism, School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir, organised a special lecture on the theme “Freedom of Press: A Historical Perspective with Special Reference to Sir Syed” at the Tulmulla Campus on 25th August, 2025.
67. Department of Communication and Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organised a special lecture on “Conventional Media in the Digital Age,” at Tulmulla campus on 6th November.

Outreach and Extension Activities

15. The Department of Convergent Journalism organized a Puppet Show Programme on March 21, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus Tulmulla.
18. DCJ hold Science Communication Programme under Vigyan Prasar funded Science Communication, Popularization and its Extension (SCoPE Project). The Event included a Science Puppetry Show and a Skit on Environmental Degradation on May 25, 2022 at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Wangat, Ganderbal.
25. The Department of Convergent Journalism conducted Flag Hoisting Ceremony on Celebrating 75 Years of Independence) on August 15, 2022 at Central University of Kashmir, Main Campus, Tullmulla.
26. On National Press Day, Department of Convergent Journalism Central University of Kashmir in collaboration with Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities, Mumbai under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India organised two-day orientation cum training programme on "Media and Accessibility" at Tulmullah campus, Ganderbal.

Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized “Photography Competition and Exhibition” under G-20 University Connect on the theme “Environment and Sustainable Development Goal” for the university students at Tulmulla campus on 5 April, 2023.
34. Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Deptt of Students Welfare (DSW) and Health Centre, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with Institute of Mental health and Neurosciences (IMHANS), Chief Medical Officer, Ganderbal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Guide the Professionals with media partner Radio Chinar 90.4 FM produced documentary “Second Chance- Story of Hope & Recovery” was adjudged as winner of ‘Special Jury award’ at the Chandigarh University International Film Festival 2023. The documentary was directed by Dr. Asif Khan, Sr. Asst Prof and the team comprising of Mr. Sammeer Wani (as DoP), Production Assistant DCJ and students. It is regarding the issue of drug and substance abuse prevalent in the valley and talks about the menace with inputs from the experts, doctors, students, psychologists and patients.
42. DCJ holds Interactive Session & Lecture on “Viksit Bharat @2047: Ideas for the Vision on 14th December, 2023 at Central University of Kashmir, Tulmulla.
43. DCJ holds Online Session on “J&K Youth in the making of Viksit & Sashkt Bharat Under “Viksit Bharat @2047 Banner on 31 December, 2023 at Central University of Kashmir, Tulmulla.
63. Departments of Communication and Journalism (DCJ) and Information Technology (IT), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) continued the Students Induction Programme for newly admitted students with a message on health and well-being on 12th August ,2025. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Chalkoo, noted laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon, emphasized that good health—both physical and spiritual—is essential for success.
66. Department of Communications & Journalism School of Media Studies organised One Day Photography field trip under the aegis of Viksit Bharat @2047 on Wednesday 5th Nov 2025 to Dachigam National Park. The faculty and students also interacted with the locals and discussed regarding various government/ national initiatives, schemes and policies.
