Brief Introduction: 

Dr. Nusrat Jabeen, daughter of Bashir Ahmed Shah and wife of Prof. Mohd Altaf Ahanger, resides at Zakura, Hazratbal, District Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. She can be contacted at 7780830988 or via email at nusraturdu@cukashmir.ac.in Her academic qualifications include an M.A. in Urdu with First Division, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) on the topic “Iqbal ka Tasavor-i-Niswan” awarded by the Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy, University of Kashmir, on 6th December 2007, as well as having cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) and State Level Eligibility Test (SLET). She also holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Certificate Course in Basic Computer.

Dr. Nusrat Jabeen began her career as a Lecturer in the Department of Education, J&K, on 1st July 2008 and served until 24th February 2010, leaving the position due to elevation to a higher post. She then worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Higher Education from 25th February 2010 to 31st July 2012. Following this, she was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Urdu, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), where she served from 1st August 2012 to 31st July 2022. On 1st August 2022, she was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in the same department and continues to serve in that position till date.

Dr Nusrat Jabeen has significantly contributed to the field of feminism with special reference to Urdu poetry and fiction. She has undertaken her research work on the concept of women in the poetry of Allama Iqbal for the award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy. She has contributed more than thirty research papers in the field of feminism in Urdu poetry and Urdu fiction which include “Tomato Ketch-up Ka Tanqeedi Mutala”, “Taneesyet Ba-nam-i-Nuswaniyet”, “Mard Takhleeqkaroon Ka Taneesi Shaoor” and others. Her research papers have been publishing in reputed journals of Urdu world including University Grants Commission CARE listed journals. She also got awarded Major Research Project by UGC in the year 2016 titled “Feminist Study of Novels of Qurat-Ul-Ain Hyder”. Dr Nusrat Jabeen has been actively engaged in the supervision of research scholars. Till date five doctoral degrees are awarded under her supervision while as at present four research scholars are under supervision. Dr Nusrat Jabeen has been actively representing the Central University of Kashmir at various local and national level academic seminars and workshops which have enhanced her professional competence of understanding.
