Brief Profile
Dr. Ibraq Khurshid, FZSI, completed her education in Ganderbal and obtained her M.Sc. in Zoology (Parasitology) in 2008 and M.Ed. in 2010, securing First Class in both. She completed her M.Phil. in 2011 with “Outstanding” grades and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Kashmir in 2014. She was also awarded the UGC-BSR Junior Research Fellowship for five years on merit. She began her academic career as Assistant Professor (Contractual) in the Department of Education, University of Kashmir, in 2014, teaching Bioscience to B.Ed. students. She also conducted B.Ed./M.Ed. contact classes through the Directorate of Distance Education and served as an IGNOU Counsellor for M.A. Education during 2014–15.
In August 2015, Dr. Ibraq joined
the Department
of Zoology, Central University of Kashmir, as Assistant
Professor (Contractual) and was regularized in August 2016. She is presently Senior
Assistant Professor and has served as Coordinator,
Department of Zoology (2018–2020) and Academic
Coordinator (2023–2025). She was promoted to Senior
Scale (Pay Level 11; AGP ₹7,000) in August 2020 and currently
serves as Member, University Academic Council, and
Assistant Proctor, Nunner Campus.
Dr. Ibraq Khurshid has received several prestigious honours for her research and academic contributions, including the Best Oral Presentation Award (2013); Gold Medals at BBAU, Lucknow (2014), Allahabad (2014), and ZSI (2015); Congress of Zoology Medal (2015); G.D. Bhale Rao Medal (2018); Best Oral Presentation Award in Medical & Veterinary Parasitology (2018); Prof. S.P. Gupta Medal (2022); and Prof. P.N. Pandey Medal (2023) for outstanding contributions to Parasitology. She has authored 3 books, edited 6 books/proceedings, and published 33 research papers and 9 book chapters. She has completed 2 research projects and is currently undertaking a third. Under her supervision, 2 Ph.D. and 2 M.Phil. scholars have completed their degrees, while 3 scholars are pursuing Ph.D.
She has organized 10
conferences/seminars/workshops and participated in 11
international, 17 national and 6 regional conferences, besides 13
workshops/courses. She has presented 40
research papers, chaired 9 technical sessions, delivered
11
invited talks, and developed 22 e-content modules in Education.
Her contributions span teaching, research, academic administration,
publications and professional activities, with particular
expertise in Parasitology and Bioscience Education.
