Dr. Davinder Siwal is working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Tulmulla campus, Central University of Kashmir, Jammu & Kashmir, India, contributing in the area of radiation detector instrumentation physics for medical imaging and the applied domain of nuclear physics. He qualified CSIR-NET with JRF in 2006, and has been awarded for Aswini Kumar Rath Memorial Award-2020 gold medal from Indian Physics Association for his outstanding contribution in nuclear physics research. His research background knowledge includes; HPGe detector, scintillation based neutron and photon crystals, and microchannel plate detector (MCP) experience. This involves handling of multi-parameter detector data with GSI-Multi Branching System (MBS), CAEN and Struck based signal digitizers usage at various institutions. Contributed in the digital pulse processing development for the  future data acquisition at National Array of Neutron Detectors (NAND), Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi. He is expert in Linux based computation and data analysis software for detector modeling that includes; ROOT based data analysis, Geant4 based monte carlo simulation for detector development, Geant4/GATE based imaging detector, and TOPAS-MC for the medical LINAC photon beam.  Dr Siwal believes there is significant scope to translate instrumentation research into the medical domain from an Indian perspective. In this connection, he is presently working in the frontline area of research involving gamma-ray camera development.
