About the Programme
M.A./M.Sc. Programme in Mathematics
The M.A./M.Sc. Programme in Mathematics offered by the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir, is a two-year postgraduate programme that provides advanced knowledge of pure and applied mathematics. It strengthens students’ logical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and understanding of rigorous mathematical methods.
The curriculum covers major areas such as real and complex analysis, abstract algebra, topology, differential equations, functional analysis, numerical analysis, probability, statistics and discrete mathematics. Classroom teaching is supplemented by seminars, assignments, computational work and exposure to research methodology, enabling students to connect mathematical theory with contemporary scientific and interdisciplinary applications.
The programme prepares students for doctoral research and advanced study in mathematics and related disciplines. It also equips graduates for careers in teaching, research institutions, data analysis, finance, computing, industry, government services, and other fields that require strong mathematical and quantitative expertise.
