Brief Profile
Dr. Uzma Qadri is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir, where she has been a faculty member since February 2022. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kashmir, awarded in March 2021, for her thesis on "Education as Service under the J&K Consumer Protection Act: A Socio-Legal Study " a work that reflects her commitment to examining law through the lens of social reality.
Her academic journey spans degrees in Science, Law, Education, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a dissertation on Islamic Banking, a breadth that informs her interdisciplinary approach to legal scholarship. Prior to her current position, she served as a Lecturer at Kashmir Law College and contributed as a Project Fellow to a UGC-sponsored Major Research Project on the political empowerment of women through Panchayati Raj institutions in Kashmir.
Dr. Qadri's research interests lie at the intersection of education law, consumer rights, women's empowerment, and constitutional studies. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including the India Bar Review, Kashmir Journal of Legal Studies, and the International Journal of Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law, and has presented papers at national conferences on themes ranging from the right to education and Islamic banking to minority rights and workplace harassment.
A committed educator and active scholar, Dr. Qadri continues to contribute to legal academia through research, teaching, and professional development.
