Brief Profile
Dr. Ishrat Bashir is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English. She joined the department in May 2012 after serving as an Assistant Professor in the South Campus, University of Kashmir, for a brief period. She has been teaching Contemporary Literary Theory, Short Story, Research Methodology, Modern British Drama and Fiction in the Department. Ishrat Bashir did her M.A in English from the University of Kashmir in 2008 and qualified for NET in 2009. She did her PhD on the Lebanese novelist Elias Khoury at the Department of English, Maulana Azad National Urdu University in 2018. She was appointed Lecturer in April 2010 in the Department of School Education. In October 2010, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Higher Education. In September 2011, she joined the South Campus of the University of Kashmir as an Assistant Professor in English. Her research interests include fiction, poetry, literary theory, translation studies and Kashmir studies. She translates from Kashmiri into English.
