As the Head of the Department of Economics at Central University of Kashmir, I am delighted to warmly welcome you to the department distinguished by its dedication to academic excellence, impactful research and unwavering commitment to quality education. In every economy lies a story- of people, choices, resilience and change. At the department of economics, we strive to understand and influence that story with purpose and precision. More than just an academic unit we see ourselves as a vibrant community of learners, thinkers and changemakers. Present day economics is not confined to theories and charts. It is the lens through which we interpret and address the complex challenges of rapidly evolving world. Towards this we provide an apt platform to nurture analytical thinking, develop data driven insights and foster a comprehensive understanding of economic systems at subnational, national and global levels. With a dynamic curriculum, our goal is to empower students with the knowledge and skills vital for diverse professional roles. Our teaching approach blends classroom lectures, group activities, policy discussions, field visits, research and interactive sessions-all designed to enable students to provide solutions to contemporary real-world socio-economic problems. All this is steered by a crop of qualified and dedicated faculty members who firmly adhere to high values of professionalism, integrity, team work, commitment, merit, hard work and more importantly the collective social responsibility.
